#GodChat: Blessing Blocking

After last week’s #GodChat, I figured I needed to shine a brighter light on the other side of this coin! Yes, I believe it is God’s grace that allows our sins to be overlooked for entry into His Kingdom. But it’s God’s mercy that allows us to prosper here on earth. How do we get His mercy? Aha… Through repentance!

Proverbs 28:13

Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper,
    but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy.

Obedience = Blessings
I believe when we live under God’s umbrella: confessing the belief, studying the Word, going to church, praying & praising, giving & tithing, and ‘acting right’ in general, we are being obedient to His Word.

Disobedience = Blocked Blessings
But when we step from under God’s umbrella to fornicate, lie, cheat, steal, kill, and ‘act a fool’ in any other way, we are being disobedient.

The way I was taught, the only way to fully reposition ourselves back under God’s umbrella (with mercy and blessings) is to repent our sins by turning away from the disobedience. That means we have to stop lying, lusting, drinking, sucking, sexting, coveting, and whatever else our immoral asses are doing – if we want to be prosperous.

Yes, I know a lot of us are walking around here with a tilted umbrella (mine may be tilted further than yours!) But I don’t believe any of us can stand the rain without God for too long. Hence, sinning in peace is an idea; a great idea to some…especially for a blog… but it’s an oxymoronic one. Simply stated, it’s hard to find all of our peace when we can’t find all of our blessings.

So be smart, be safe and be prosperous. Let’s not sail into heaven soaked and dripping wet just because we can… Let’s straighten our spiritual umbrella up and stop blocking those blessings!
